Professional Development Education (PDE)

About Professional Development Education (PDE)

Professional Development Education is a Clark County School District staff development program which provides teachers and administrators with opportunities to grow professionally and to earn renewal credit for professional licenses and/or for salary advancement.

Course content is reviewed by members of the PDE Advisory Committee and the Nevada Department of Education.

Support staff personnel are also invited to attend classes appropriate to their areas of work and/or for professional growth.

How PDE Credits Can Be Used

License Renewal

Teachers are required to complete continuing education credits from an accredited post-secondary institution or from an approved continuing education provider in order to renew their Nevada license. CCSD Professional Development Education is an approved provider of classes. It is important that participants check with the Nevada Department of Education to verify a particular PDE class applies to their individual license. PDE classes taken after all provisions have been removed, can be used for license renewal.

Salary Advancement

PDE courses can be used to earn Contact Units (CU’s). One PDE credit provides 5 CU’s.

Out of District Teachers

Teachers who are not employed by the Clark County School District are welcome to take classes offered by PDE. It is the teacher’s responsibility to check with their state/educational institution to verify the credits will be accepted.
